Frequently asked questions

PRSFA is an annual performing arts festival in Dawson Creek BC. 2023 will mark our 31st year hosting this festival in our community. Please read our ABOUT section and Syllabus to become more familiar with our festival.

Any individual or group who are interested in recieving adjudication for their performing arts discipline may enter. Disciplines covered this year are Dance, Piano, Strings and Vocal.

Dance, Piano, Guitar and Vocal are being offered this year. Please read through our syllabus and relevant sections on our website for more details about specific categories.

Some performers are playing for adjudication only. Others choose to compete for an invitation to the Provincial Festival or for scholarship/bursary awards. To the adjudicators, all performers are playing against a standard, not one another. Some earn Certificates of Merit, some earn scholarships/bursaries, and some are invited to perform at our Honours Concert at the end of the festival. A small number selected by our adjudicators receive invitations to perform at the Provincial Festival.

No. We have a budget for each festival, and we maintain an ongoing balance which absorbs profits and losses. When income exceeds our goals, we increase scholarships, bursaries, awards, and registration fees to the Provincial Festival.

Adjudicators are performing artists/teachers chosen for their ability to encourage and show young performers how to improve their skills. They also select those performers whom they feel are ready to perform at the Provincial Festival.

Our festival is sponsoured and made possible through entry donation fees, registration fees, individual donors and donations from organizations within our community.

Please carefully read our Official SYLLABUS as that provides detailed information regarding our festival. Please contact the Festival administration for all other questions at info@prsfa.net
